Adrift Collection

I set myself adrift by responding to the memories and emotions the sea and coastline evoked in me.

 ADRIFT is a series of paintings that depicts different moments in time, capturing how we can physically be in the present whilst simultaneously, in our mind, be somewhere else entirely. It is as though being by the sea and experiencing the movement of waves and currents metaphorically cuts our moorings and sets us afloat to drift through an internal seascape. 

 All these paintings have been created in a physical way. My movements in apply the paint echoing the form of the weatherworn pebbles, rocks and washed-up objects found on the coast as well as the constantly shapeshifting surface of the waves and currents of the sea. To create these two-dimensional paintings my approach was, first and foremost, a three-dimensionally embodied one.
