MESSENGERS

Messengers is an evolving body of work that deepens my exploration of birds and their song
as carriers of meaning, memory and warning. Across these paintings, birds appear as
animated – often with beaks open in full voice – inhabiting immersive
landscapes shaped by a palette that responds intuitively to sound itself. Like birdsong,
colour vibrates: warm russets resonate alongside unexpected flashes of pink and yellow,
nestled among blues and greens.
These works arise from a desire to translate the visceral experience of receiving a
message – one that reminds us of our profound connection to this planet, this jewel called
Earth (an anagram of Heart). Our beautiful and fragile home, and the only one we have.
With this reminder comes responsibility: to protect, to cherish and to live in deeper
relationship with the natural world. The birds in these paintings become our
messengers – voices of warning, wonder, and belonging.
