Meet Simon

For over 30 years, I have been immersed in both dance and visual art, with my choreographic background deeply influencing my approach to my visual art practice. To me, each piece of artwork is akin to choreography—a dynamic interaction between space, movement, and energy. This philosophy has allowed me to explore a diverse range of creative practices, presenting my work in galleries, theatres, and outdoor spaces.

My training began at Loughborough College of Art in the 1980s, but it was during my time at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance that I truly established my calling to move. On graduating I performed in many professional dance works and choreographed my own dance works too, often collaborating with artists from different art disciplines. I have always seen myself not solely as a movement artist but as someone whose work bridges visual and kinetic expression.

In addition to my own creative practice, I am passionate about sharing my knowledge. As a part-time senior lecturer at Falmouth University in the Dance & Choreography department, a yoga teacher and art workshop leader I see teaching as an extension of my mission to help others connect with their bodies, creativity, and the world around them. The practice of dance and yoga continually nourishes my visual art, allowing me to bring movement, mindfulness, and nature into what I create.

Through my artwork and workshops, I hope to help you foster a deeper awareness,  appreciation and respect for yourself and natural world.
