AFTER A SHORT SHOWER

Plein air fine liner on watercolour paper prepared with gesso, with watercolour and posca pen applied on my return to my studio.

Rain showers past quickly as the wind sped inland from the sea. The surface of the lane shimmered silver under the canopy of the trees. In this sketch, I tried to capture the sense of dampness, the moisture in the air and that wonderful autumn smell of damp leaves and tree bark.
