Love and Loyalty (swallow)

Love and Loyalty (Swallow)

This small canvas depicts a single swooping swallow. Swallows pair for life and each pair often return each year to the same nesting site, making them a powerful symbol of faithfulness. However, this symbolism sits against a backdrop of concern. Since 2012, swallow populations have declined by approximately 43% in the UK. This reduction is linked to a loss of insect food sources, the removal or blocking of traditional nesting sites as barns and outbuildings are converted or sealed, and the broader impacts of climate change on migration patterns and survival.
