Walk Collection

WALK is a collection of mixed media paintings. The creative process starts with collage and applying gesso to the paper, creating a textured surface impacts the marks and paint that are added to the surface. I then take the prepared paper with me on my walks and in response to the places I visit, I draw lines with a fine liner pen. I draw very quickly, often whilst walking, so that I capture the fleeting moments and my immediate response to each place. These lines help me to recall all that my senses absorbed and how I felt at that moment, in that place. On return to my studio, I add paint.

To ensure that the finished paintings are stable and durable, I carefully apply to some of the pieces wax and some matte varnish before they are framed behind glass.
